‘Hacks’ Star Jean Smart Makes Rare Red Carpet Appearance with Son Forrest Gilliland at Emmy Awards 2026

Jean Smart hit the blue carpet with a special guest while arriving at the 2026 Emmy Awards on Monday night (September 14) at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.

The 75-year-old Hacks star was joined by her youngest son, Forrest Gilliland, 18, in a rare red carpet appearance together.

Jean is a nominee once again this year, up for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for her work in Hacks. This is her fifth nomination in the category for her work as Deborah Vance in the HBO Max comedy series.

She has won the award all four times she was nominated in the past!

If you don’t know, Jean and her late husband, Richard Gilliland, announced they adopted Forrest in January 2010 when he was 18 months old.

“The second this baby was handed to us, we were just so besotted. It was the best,” she gushed to Glamour in a 2024 interview. “My youngest is just an amazing person.”

They are also parents to their son Connor, who is nearly 20 years older than Forrest.
