‘Baywatch’ Season 2: Has Fox Renewed the Series? LA City Officials May Have Revealed the Answer

The debut season of the Baywatch reboot hasn’t even premiered yet, and there are already talks of a second season!
Stephen Amell is set to lead the cast of the series, which premieres on Fox in January.
While the network has not revealed a decision on the future of the show yet, LA city officials have seemingly given an update on the status of a second installment.
Here’s what city officials said about a Baywatch renewal
Los Angeles’ chief film liaison Steve Kang spoke to city council members on Wednesday (September 9), and told local lawmakers, “I can say with confidence that they are very happy with the concierge service that we were able to provide [on Season 1], and they will be returning to Los Angeles for a second season next year,” according to Deadline.
Sources also add that Fox is optimistic about the new show, but an official renewal likely won’t come until the network sees the response to season one.
Baywatch received a $21.1 million tax credit from the California Film Commission, and the city did all it could to help coordinate between jurisdictions to allow the show to film at such locations as the Venice Lifegaurd Operations Station.
On Wednesday, lawmakers discussed the series while talking about the “concierge service” delivered to the production to help navigate the processes to film at iconic locations like Venice Beach.
“Now we know Baywatch is going to be back for Season 2…are there some things that we took from that experience, changes that we can make, operational changes that might be helpful?” Councilwoman Traci Park, who represents the 11th district of Los Angeles, asked at the meeting.
Season one of the upcoming series wrapped filming in August after about six months of production.
