Ayan Broomfield brought the girls outside again at the U.S. Open to celebrate everything we love about Black women, Black excellence and sports. And because the former tennis star rolls with baddies, you know the style, fashion and pictures did not disappoint.
Ayan returned to the top-tier tennis tournament with her Ayan’s Aces initiative. Collaborating with Cadillac, Danielle Brooks, Precious Lee, Ziwe, Mariah the Scientist, Yung Miami, Sherri Shepherd, Kayla Nicole and Achieng Agutu all rolled with her.
Ayan’s Aces is her way of creating more opportunities and awareness for Black women around tennis, entrepreneurship, collaboration, sports and more.
This year’s U.S. Open gathering continued that work. It also gave us the kind of sisterhood – and visuals – we honestly need to see more of on our timelines.
Danielle Brooks Joins Ayan Broomfield In Louis Vuitton, Reflects On The Power Of Black Women
“The Color Purple” actress Danielle Brooks summed up the experience on Instagram.
“A collective of Black Women watching a Black Woman dominate is so much fun,” she wrote. Danielle shared several pictures from her girls’ day at the U.S. Open. Her carousel included views from the stands, step-and-repeat poses, court action (from non other than Coco Guaff) and a little caviar.
The actress, who has attended the U.S. Open since 2015, also noted that the experience felt a little more elevated this time.
We don’t doubt Ayan and several other Black girl powerhouses had a little something to do with it.

Danielle marked her elevated moment in style. Sis served the girls in gray Louis Vuitton separates with a pleated mini, black boots and a monogram bag. Her hair was swept into a half-up, half-down style with soft curls.
The hostess herself chose Thom Browne. Ayan rocked a navy tennis-inspired mini with red-and-white trim, a tie and knee-high socks. Her buss-down middle-part platinum blonde hair fell into soft curls at the bottom.
Sherri Shepherd came through with a look done the sexy Sherri way. The TV host rocked a two-piece Naked Wardrobe suit that fit her like a glove. The set featured an oversized green, black and white houndstooth pattern that worked with Sherri’s petite frame. Her mini skirt was paired with a square-neck blazer featuring exaggerated shoulders, long sleeves and black buttons.
Sherri topped off the look, literally, with a matching houndstooth beret and glamour-girl curls. White pumps and a white drawstring purse completed her accessories.
Yung Miami rocked Loewe in a fitted color-block dress with a butter yellow turtleneck bodice and light gray sleeves. A crimson stripe cut across the skirt above a handkerchief-style navy blue hem. She paired the dress with a mini yellow Kelly bag and yellow flip-flop heels. Her ponytail featured a blunt bang and two curled pieces framing her face.
The pictures gave us serious Black girl magic and showed why the U.S. Open continues to dominate our timelines.
Black women are a major reason why. We are competing, showing love and influencing sports culture.
And we are looking good while doing it.
