‘Bridgerton’ Star Luke Newton & Girlfriend Antonia Roumelioti Speak Out Against Online Hate & ‘False Narratives’

Luke Newton and his girlfriend Antonia Roumelioti are speaking out about the negativity they’ve faced online.

The 33-year-old Bridgerton actor and the 25-year-old professional dancer both took to their Instagram Stories on Saturday (September 5) to share messages about online hate, with Antonia revealing that she has faced years of scrutiny and “false narratives.”

The couple did not identify a specific incident that prompted their posts, but Antonia said that she had reached a point where she would “no longer ignore” the behavior.

“For the past three years, I have faced relentless scrutiny and countless false narratives about both myself and the people closest to me,” Antonia began her statement.

She stressed that people following her online do not actually know the details of her personal life beyond the identity of her partner and said that being a follower does not give someone the right to “spread lies, make cruel comments or tear another woman down.”

Antonia also addressed the impact that online attacks can have on mental health, describing the level of hate directed at women online as “deeply disturbing.”

She said that she has the support to cope with the negativity but warned that it does not make the behavior harmless.

“I am proud of the woman I am, and I will not allow strangers on the internet to define me or disturb my peace,” she added near the end of her message.

Luke shared his own statement shortly afterward.

“A little reminder. Be kind or simply click Not interested,” he wrote.

The Bridgerton star encouraged followers not to spend their time spreading hate, adding, “One day you’ll look back and wonder what it was all for.”

Luke and Antonia have been romantically linked since 2024. They were photographed holding hands following a Bridgerton Season 3 event in London that June, after previously sparking speculation that they were seeing each other.

The couple made their red carpet debut together in January 2025 and later went Instagram official that May, when Luke included a sweet photo of himself kissing Antonia on the cheek in a post from a pre-BAFTA TV Awards party.

The relationship attracted attention amid the massive popularity of Luke‘s Bridgerton Season 3 love story with Nicola Coughlan, who plays his onscreen wife Penelope Featherington.

However, neither Luke nor Antonia identified any particular individuals or fan group when discussing the online negativity in their new statements.
