Dolly Parton Provides a New Health Update: ‘I’m Still Healing, I’m Still Working’

Dolly Parton is providing another update on her health as she prepares for the opening of a new museum celebrating her life and legacy in Nashville, Tenn.
The iconic country singer chatted with People on Friday (August 21) about coping with “hard times with my health” but keeping busy in spite of it all.
Dolly, 80, admitted she’s “dealing with some health issues” she didn’t pay attention to while she was taking care of her late husband Carl Thomas Dean, who passed away in March 2025 at 82.
Dolly says she is still working amid her healing
“It’s not like I haven’t been through hard times with my health,” she said. “But I think because we live in a 24/7 world with social media, everything gets magnified in ways it wasn’t years ago. I used to joke that I was the Queen of the Tabloids, but now I guess I can say I’m the Queen of Social Media AI! Seriously, though, even though I’m still healin’, I’m still workin’.”
The “9 to 5” singer shared how she had previously dealt with “female issues” for a while in the 1980s that brought her “down for several months.”
Dolly and her team are working on creating “avatar performances”
Dolly also shared that she and her team are working on creating “avatar performances,” which are “early stages of development.”
The news comes not long after she missed an event at Dollywood for the opening of the NightFlight Expedition ride. At the time she said she was resting on doctor’s orders.
“Now I’m dehydrated, and so my Nashville doctor kind of clipped my wings, saying, ‘You ain’t traveling this week.’ So I guess if your doctor tells you you ain’t traveling this week, you ain’t traveling this week!” she expressed in a video message.
