The police are visiting the family of Brian Hickerson in the wake of Hayden Panettiere‘s death.

Officers were photographed going to the home of the grandmother of the 37-year-old on-again, off-again boyfriend of the late actress on Wednesday (August 19), Page Six confirmed.

Why Did Police Visit Brian Hickerson’s Family Home?

A police department representative told the outlet that officers were “responding to a request for a welfare check, though they did not specify the individual or individuals involved.”

In pictures obtained by the outlet, two Greenville Police Department cars could be seen at the property of Betty Ellison in Greenville, South Carolina.

What Happened During the Welfare Check?

The outlet reports that one officer knocked on the front door, but no one appeared, while another officer tried the side door before they left the property.

Brian Hickerson Was Seen at the Property One Day Earlier

A day before, Brian and brother Zach, 38, were seen at the property, which is “about five miles away” from the Airbnb where she was found dead of a suspected overdose on Sunday (August 16).

Just days before Hayden Panettiere‘s tragic death, Brian Hickerson was dealt a legal blow. He was attempting to have his past felony domestic violence charges reduced to misdemeanor charges instead, and he also wanted his convictions expunged from the record. A judge denied those requests.
