The 2024 movie Arthur the King is now streaming on Netflix and it will gain a brand new audience. One question that many viewers will have before turning on the movie is, “does the dog die?”
Arthur the King, which is based on a true story, follows a pro adventure racer’s bond with a scrappy street dog who joins him on a 435 mile race over the course of 10 days.
Over the course of ten days and 435 miles, an unbreakable bond is forged between pro adventure racer Michael Light (Mark Wahlberg) and a scrappy street dog companion dubbed Arthur. Based on an incredible true story, ARTHUR THE KING follows Light, desperate for one last chance to win, as he convinces a sponsor to back him and a team of athletes (Simu Liu, Nathalie Emmanuel, and Ali Suliman) for the Adventure Racing World Championship in the Dominican Republic. As the team is pushed to their outer limits of endurance in the race, Arthur redefines what victory, loyalty and friendship truly mean.
So, does the dog live or die?

We’re happy to report, the dog lives in the movie!
The team is not allowed to have Arthur join them in their kayak for the last leg of the race, but the dog doesn’t want to leave them, so he jumps into the water and swims to follow them. To save the dog from drowning, the team goes back to save him, causing them to lose the race.
Arthur is clearly very ill at the end of the race and doctors advise them to put the dog down, but Mark Wahlberg‘s character Michael refuses and decides to take him home to the USA.
In real life, racer Mikael Lindnord took the dog home to Sweden!
