Sara Bareilles Opens Up About IVF Journey in New Documentary 'Good Grief' - Just Jared - Celebrity News and Gossip

Sara Bareilles is sharing a deeply personal chapter of her life.
In her new documentary Good Grief, which premiered at the Tribeca Festival on June 4, the 46-year-old singer-songwriter reveals that she and husband Joe Tippett have been trying to have a child for the past two years.
During a conversation with a collaborator who was also experiencing fertility struggles, Sara opened up about her own journey (via People).
“I’m in the same boat,” she says in the film. “We’ve been trying for two years.”
The Grammy winner goes on to reveal that she has undergone IVF treatments multiple times.
“But I think the next phase is egg donor,” Sara says. “For some reason, I’m not making the appointment. I really had to grieve that…that it won’t be mine.”
The emotional moment is featured in Good Grief, a documentary that follows the making of her first album in seven years while exploring different forms of loss and healing.
The “Brave” singer also reflects on how her perspective has evolved through the experience.
“The idea that love is just big enough to hold a lot of shapes and sizes and ways things come. The idea that I could only love a child if it shows up in this one way,” she says.
Sara married actor Joe Tippett in 2025 after the pair first met while working on Waitress in 2015 and later began dating publicly in 2017.
Sara also recently teased that a tour is coming soon!
